Things should know about CoronaVirus situation before visiting China
China is having a CoronaVirus in whole country since end of Dec 2019. The main epidemic situation is only in Wuhan city and it is locked currently. Most places are still fine and have little infection found.
The Chinese government is actively taking many measures to deal with it. The public activities all cancelled, public places like cinema, library closed. But super market, store remain open.
Here we share something about the situation in China and what you should know if you want to visit China in Feb 2020.
Whats the current situation in China?
By 28 Jan, 2020, total 4515 people is confirmed infection of coronavirus. It is not that terrible so far, still not out of control.
Wuhan city is locked
It is the main epidemic place. People can not go outside and the people outside can not go in. The supplies within the city is working normally.
Public activities all cancelled
Any indoor group activities all got cancelled. Like any indoor show, actings, exhibitions etc all cancelled. The cinema, museum, library etc all closed.
While the super market, stores remain open. But you might need to wear a mask to go in.
Transportation & accommodation
Flights, railway, taxi, bus still working.
Hotels all open as usual. But you might need to wear a mask when stay at lobby.
Whats the situation in Guangzhou?
Guangzhou is still in spring festival holiday and the city still not busy as lots of people not yet come back.
But if you walk outside, everyone is wearing a mask.
Most public places like super market, mall, coffee shop will not allow you go in if you do not wear a mask. So wearing a mask is very necessary for visiting outside or protect yourself.
At the moment, all the cinema, museum, library etc are closed. All the indoor group activities are cancelled.
By the way, the taxi, metro, bus etc are all working as usual.
When are the companies open from holiday?
The original official holiday is 24 ~ 30 Jan, 2020. Now the government extend the holiday till 9 Feb, 2020. Most companies will be back to work on 10 Feb, 2020.
The school is still delaying, not sure when it will open again.
While most manufacturers will open after 10 Feb, 2020. As the labors will not come back as early as the people work in office.
What should I do to protect from the virus?
Should wear a mask outside. If you can get better surgical mask like N95 or KN95 mask, that would be better.
Wash your hand after back from outside or before eating. Keep washing at least for 7 seconds.
Change your clothes after back from outside. You can change a new cloth or keep the old clothes outside for 1~2 hours.
Clean your phone. Better to clean your phone by alcohol paper.
Is it ok to visit China in Feb?
It is fine to visit so far. As long as you take proper protection like wear a mask, not stay long time indoor with many people, wash hand properly.
